We allocate affiliate revenue realized on primary.org based on the percentage of traffic referred to Primary, by vertical.
Example, if the vertical is Tennis:
|Source||Percent of referrals to primary.org|
|Forum (via Primary Explorer, Newsletter, or other)||50%|
In this case, the forum would receive 50% of Primary Tennis affiliate revenue.
Note: The forum continues to receive 100% of existing forum affiliate revenue, including for traffic that Primary refers back to the forum. So, for instance, say:
- Primary Tennis receives 100 clicks, of which, 50 are referred by the forum.
- Of those 50 clicks, 25 clicks go to a retailer, and the other 25 clicks go back to the forum.
- Of the 25 clicks that go back to the forum, 10 clicks go through the forum's existing (non-Primary) affiliate links to a retailer.
In this case, the forum would receive 50% of Primary Tennis affiliate revenue, and 100% of forum affiliate revenue, including for the 25 clicks that went back to the forum and the 10 clicks that went to a retailer.
(2021-03-19: Updated article to clarify that the 100% of retained affiliate revenue refers to non-Primary affiliate traffic, and that forum-referred traffic to Primary is based on number of sessions.)
