Background
Primary is Threadloom's consumer platform for product recommendations. It enables admins to monetize their forum discussions through recommended products for specific interests and audiences.
Primary currently supports the following affiliate programs:
- Amazon (all locales)
- eBay
- Reverb
- Skimlinks
- Sovrn (formerly known as Viglink)
- Sweetwater
In addition, we now support the subId1 parameter for Sweetwater.
If you would like us to add an additional program for your site, drop us a line.

Getting started
- For any affiliate program that you would like Primary to load your affiliate IDs for:
- In your existing account, create a new tracking ID or sub-ID that is specific to Primary. This will enable you to measure the specific impact Primary is making on your site's total revenue.
- Make sure you also update your affiliate accounts with the path for Primary embeds on your site. This is typically https://<forum_path>/primary/, e.g., https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/primary/.
- Amazon Associates: Home > Your Associates Account > Edit Your Website And Mobile App List.
- eBay: Settings > Media Property > Create Media Property.
- Reverb: NA.
- Skimlinks: Sites > Site setup > Apply with another site. In Description, we recommend using something like this: "We partner with Threadloom to identify products based on our forum's product-related discussions. We surface these products on our site by embedding a module from https://primary.org that is specific to our forum. We control the presentation of this content to our visitors."
- Sovrn: Settings > Sites > Add site.
- Sweetwater: (Same as eBay, since they both use Impact Radius as their plaform.)
- Make sure you also update your affiliate accounts with the path for Primary embeds on your site. This is typically https://<forum_path>/primary/, e.g., https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/primary/.
- Make a copy of this spreadsheet.
- Fill in your Primary-specific tracking IDs.
- Share your copy of the spreadsheet with support@threadloom.com.
- In your existing account, create a new tracking ID or sub-ID that is specific to Primary. This will enable you to measure the specific impact Primary is making on your site's total revenue.
- The following steps help us optimize your conversion rates by improving ranking:
- For each affiliate program you are using with Primary, grant read-only reports access to partners@threadloom.com. Alternatively, you can email monthly CSV reports to support@threadloom.com.
- For Amazon: Create a new Product Advertising API key and email it to support@threadloom.com. Note: Amazon permits affiliates two active keys.
