Custom search tabs allow you to add tabs to your search results page, that search over any crawlable section of your website. This means you can include WordPress blogs, e-commerce store page, and more in Threadloom Search. You can read more in our blog post.
How to set up a custom search tab
- Sign into your Threadloom Portal account, and go to My forums > Search > Search Settings > Search Tabs.
- Under the "post" and "image" tabs, you'll see a row for a "custom" tab. Enter a display name (this is what appears to users on your site) and the content URL.
- Once you enable a tab, it takes about 3 minutes to go live. You can preview what the tab looks like before you enable it, by adding &tabPreview=true to your Threadloom Search results page URL.
Sample content URLs
Content URL | Comments |
themouthpiece.com/blog/ | Searches over everything in and under the /blog/ path, e.g., including /blog/2015/. |
themouthpiece.com -site:themouthpiece.com/forum/ | Searches over everything on themouthpiece.com domain, excluding content under the /forum/ path. |
themouthpiece.com/blog/ OR site:themouthpiece.com/wiki/ | Searches over everything in and under the /blog/ path, as well as the /wiki path. |
themouthpiece.com/index.php? | Searches over all content on your site with /index.php? in its path. |
Domains in content URLs must match your forum domain. If you'd like to point to an off-site location (for instance, if you want to point to another site in your network of related sites), drop us a line.
